Bub Perry, Rt. 1 Carrier, Dies
Bub Perry, 57, mail carrier for Rural Route 1, died Friday in a Rotan hospital following a brief illness. He was in Rotan to attend a funeral when he became ill and died some six hours later.
Born Feb. 18, 1918, Perry was a lifelong resident of Lampasas. He began work for the post office in 1940 before joining the U. S. Navy during World War II. After receiving his discharge he returned to the Lampasas post office where he worked until becoming a rural mail carrier some eight years ago.
He was a longtime member of the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department and served the organization as president for many years. A Methodist, he was also a member of the American Legion.
He was married to Jane Barron Nov. 24, 1940.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Larry Lacy, officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery with Adkins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Billy Perry of Austin; two daughters, Mrs. Fay Smith of Denton and Mrs. Lois Fry of Lampasas; two brothers, Harry Perry and A. C. Perry, both of Lampasas; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Albrecht of Austin; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the services were Buddy Perry. J. T. Humphres Jr., Keith Dawson, T. J. Casbeer Jr., Woodrow Tumlinson, Chester Bagby, Reed Mullins and Raymond Powell.
Named as honorary pallbearers were members of the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department.
