He and an unknown Ross had matching DNA in Ross Project in 2007

The Highlander: Two Bertram residents found dead. December 07, 2013, 5:00 pm by Alexandria Randolph¶Two Bertram residents were found dead after an accident that occurred sometime in the night near CR 341, Texas DPS Troopers said.¶Texas DPS Trooper Shannon Simpson confirmed that Jerry Wayne Ross, 51 and Elizabeth Nigrelli, 35, were found at 6 a.m. Saturday morning in a 2008 Chevy Silvarado laying overturned in the Hamilton Creek bed off CR 341.¶They were discovered by a passerby.¶"They hit the guard rail of the bridge on the near side and slid all the way down and came to rest in the water,” Simpson said. ¶Simpson said the couple had been heading east on the roadway when the accident occurred, but officials could not say when the accident took place.

Jerry Wayne Ross passed away Saturday morning, December 7th in a tragic car accident with his fiancée, Elizabeth Nigrelli. Jerry, known as Wayne to most, was born in Houston, Texas to Jerry Van Ross and Jessie Mae Ellett. Wayne was married to Judi Ross for 17 years and had 3 children. He recently announced his engagement to Elizabeth and was said to get married in April. Wayne spent most of his life helping his grandparents (Herschel and Opal Ellett) on the Ellett Ranch-a place he called home and loved to be. He proudly served the United States Army for 4 years, 1986-1989. While in the army he traveled and lived in many states. Wayne currently owned a very successful construction company called “Wayne’s Welding and Construction”. Wayne was a wise man with few words, give the shirt off his back, heart of gold, with a bit of a wild side kind of man. He loved his ranch and tending to his cattle and horses. He also loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Wayne was a wonderful Dad and will truly be missed by his children. He is survived by his father Jerry Van Ross, son Jerry James Ross and wife Melissa of Burnet, daughter Melissa Dooley and husband Bryan of Burnet, and daughter Chelsea Ross of Briggs. Grandchildren Hayden, Haylie and Baby(on the way) Ross, and soon to be here- Walker Dooley. He is also survived by his sister Joy Purdy and husband Bernard of Round Rock, brother Herschel Cone and wife Lisa of Lockhart, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Jessie Ellett, brother Jerry Dee Shorten, grandparents Herschel and Opal Ellett, Charlie and Rita Ross, and fiancée Elizabeth Nigrelli. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the funeral home. Arrangements by Edgar Funeral home-Burnet.
