Note	The following obit was copied as printed in the February 17, 2009 edition of The Lampasas Dispatch Record: "Niel Brown Lifetime Lampasas resident dies" ¶ "Niel O. Brown, 96, died Feb. 13, 2009, at Spring Oaks Nursing & Rehab. ¶ Funeral services were Feb. 15 at First Baptist Church in Lampasas with Dr. Rick Willis officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas under the direction of Sneed Funeral Chapel of Lampasas.¶ Mr. Brown was born Dec. 17, 1912, in Lampasas County, the son of George Hartwell and Mary Z. Fulton Brown. ¶ He graduated from Lampasas High School and earned an associate's degree in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University.¶ Mr. Brown married Nelda Perry on July 12, 1936, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1969. ¶ He then married Clovis "Curley" Kendrick on Feb. 14, 1971. ¶ Mr. Brown worked for LCRA at Buchanan Dam and Marshal Ford Dam. He was part owner of Brown Chevrolet in Lometa and owner of Brown Chevrolet in Munday. ¶ Mr. Brown also owned Brown Insurance in Premont from 1958-61 and then owned Brown Insurance in Lampasas from 1961 until he sold his business and retired. ¶ He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas where he served as a deacon. He also was a member of Lampasas Lions Club for many years. ¶ Mr. Brown also was very involved in the real estate business in Lampasas. ¶ Survivors include his wife of Lampasas; one son, James Clinton Brown and wife, Karon, of Lampasas; three grandsons, Clint Brown of Hewitt, Jeff Brown and wife, Kathy, of Lampasas, and Joel Brown and wife, Candice, of Waxahachie; five great-grandchildren, Rachel, Leah, Marlo, Jillian and Jonah Brown; and three stepchildren, Rena January, Shannon Larue Farcus and Clint Kendrick, all of Lampasas. ¶ Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Lampasas, 408 S.
