"Tomette (Tommie) Davis Wilkes, 93, Lilburn, GA, died October 7, 2009. Born April 10, 1916 in Ila, Madison Co. GA, she graduated from Young Harris College.
"Mrs. Wilkes and her husband, Gilbert Wilkes, moved to Atlanta in 1945, and to Stone Mountain, GA, in 1964. Preceded in death by her husband, she is survived by her daughter Sharon Wilkes Darby, granddaughter Shannon Harvey and great granddaughters Abby and Sydney Harvey, all of Lilburn, GA, her sister Molene Davis of Hull, GA, and eleven nieces and nephews.
"A member of the Jim Griffeth Sunday School class at Stone Mountain First United Methodist, she belonged to the Belk Girls Retirement Club, the ladies group "The Squares," and attended the Over 50 Club at Gordon's Chapel Methodist. Mrs. Wilkes previously taught Sunday School and was a Girl Scout Leader.
"Visitation will be at Wages and Sons Funeral Home, Stone Mountain, GA., on Friday, October 9, 2009, at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 11:30 a.m., Rev. Joy R. Brown officiating. Burial will be at Gordon's Chapel Methodist Church in Hull, GA at 2:00 p.m. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church, 5312 W. Mtn. St., Stone Mtn, GA 30083, or to Gordon's Chapel Cemetery Fund, 6625 Nowhere Road, Hull, GA 30646. Arrangements by Wages & Sons, Stone Mountain Chapel 770/469-9811."
