Thomas wrote his will on 20 October 1891, Marion Township, Newton County, Missouri; witnessed by: John F. Bloomingkemper, William R. Holley and Sherman Sims. Recorded: State of Missouri, County of Newton; C. S. Hart, Notary Public. The will gave complete control of the estate to his wife; .... "Viz. I giv, bequeath and devise my estate and property, I give Caroline E. Hitt my wife in money five hundred dollars together with all the grain, Stock and provision now on the farm and to have possesssion and full control of my farm and land including all of my real estate until my youngest hier becomes of age; and the income thereof she solely belong to her my wife. And after the youngest heir shall become of age all of the real estate shall be equally divided between my heirs, named as follows: my wife Caroline E. Hitt and Hannah E. Carter, Samantha L.
