"Died, March 24, 1900. Mrs. Lelah L. Parks, Age 31 years, 8 months, and 13 days. Deceased was the wife of C. A. Parks who lives 7 miles southeast of Centralia. Mrs. Parks whose maiden name was Lelah Kanazar, was born in Jackson Co.Ky., Sept. 11, 1868, and came to Missouri when she was 10 years of age, united with the Christian Church when she was 15 and married to Mr. parks at the age of 16. She suffered 7 weeks from the effects of dropsy and heart trouble. When death came it found her ready and patiently awaiting for her summons. Although leaving her husband, five children, four brothers, one sister, and many friends, she realized for her to die would be gain. Mrs. Parks was a dutiful wife, a kind and affectionate mother. Husband, children, friends, look not to the cold, unfeeling world for consolation, but look up to Heaven."

"In Memoriam Died, March 24, 1900. Mrs. Lelah L. Parks, Age 31 years, 8 months, and 13 days. Deceased was the wife of C. A. Parks who lives 7 miles southeast of Centralia. Mrs. Parks whose maiden name was Lelah Knatzer, was born in Jesseman county Ky, Sept. 11, 1868, and came to Missouri when she was 10 years of age, united with the Christian Church when she was 15 and married to Mr. parks at the age of 16. She suffered 7 weeks from the effects of cropsy and heart trouble. When death came it found her ready and patiently waiting to hear her summons child come home. Although leaving her husband, five children, four brothers, one sister, and many friends, she realized for her to die would be gain. Her voice is hushed; no more will she greet us with happy smiles and kind words. Her chair is vacant and the home is sad and lonely. Mrs. Parks was a dutiful wife, a kind and affectionate mother and a friend to all and loved by all her friends. We can not understand why God, in his wisdom, took her from the many of us so early in live, but we know that He doeth all things well."
