Note

according to Pearl Bingham Billings , George Sr. was first engaged to be married but on the wedding day the bride while dressing accidentally knocked over a lamp; her dress caught fire and she was badly burned. She died a week later.
He was engaged a second time but a team ran away with his fiance while she was plowing a field; she was tangled in the trace lines and killed.
George drove cattle from Texas to Missouri working for the Goodnight Ranch at Palo Duro Canyon for a while. One time he was attacked by Indians and shot in the hip with an arrow. Another time his horse was shot from under him; the bullet that hit the horse lodged in George's tailbone and he carried the bullet the rest of his life..
He died of internal injuries caused by infection when he was pushing a wagon which got away from him and the wagon tongue hit him in the stomach.
