"He married the daughter of Gen. John South at Campbell County, VA. He served as 1st Lieutenant in the Virginia Militia from Bedford County during the Revolutionary War. He and his family moved to Logan County, KY around 1792. In 1795 their plantation was on Little-Whip-Poor- Will Creek west of Russellville, the most westerly town in Kentucky"
