State of Kentucky, Wayne County S Ct. On the 22nd day of March 1830 personally appeared in open Court Joseph Mings or Minzes who being first duly sworn according to Law doth on his oath make the following Statement in addition to the Statement heretofore made by him at a County Court held for the said County on the 23rd day of March 1829. First he states he does not know the name of the Colonel of the Regiment to which he belonged by reason that he was never with Said Regiment, but kept and retained at the laboratory in Salisbury North Carolina and at all times under the command of Captain Edward Yarborough and was by him discharged at said place, which discharge (now as he is informed in Washington City), he believes States the Regiment to which he belonged to be the 3rd Regiment. He states that the reason for his not making application for the pension at an earlier period is that he was Ignorant of the mode of applying, and the Lawyers to whom he made application to prepare his papers &tc asked him such an unreasonable price as discouraged him from making application. He states that the following is a true account of the property owned by him on the 18th of March 1818 and the Changes which have taken place in Said property by Sale or otherwise, Since that time, viz. Fifty acres of third rate land, Sold to John Vestal Sometime in the year 1822 Around in Autumn, received in return for it two house beasts, & two Cows and three hundred Bushels of corn paid at Several different periods. He owned three head of house beasts, two of which died and the other went blind, Twelve or thirteen head of cattle, four Cows he gave to his four daughters who left him about that time, the rest have since died or been killed for beef, a tolerable stock of hogs, & a few sheep. He lost a good many of the hogs & killed some of the sheep. And further he Saith not. Sworn to in open Court, the day and date first above written.
