|
"Dr. Davidson attended Transylvania Medical School in Lexington Kentucky in 1830-32 and again in 1835-37. He was on the staff of Gen. Sam Houston during the Mexican War and was at the Battle of San Jacinto. After the Mexican War Dr. Davidson returned to Transylvania College and got his medical degree in 1837. When his father died in 1856, Dr. Davidson and his family were living in Cook County Texas, on land granted Dr. Davidson by the State. There he bred horses as a sideline. They moved back to Mississippi and his only son Otey died on the trip. After returning from Texas Dr. Davidson lived in Water Valley, MS, near his brothers George and Edward Chaffin and his wife's brother Tom and Albert. Late in life he moved to the home of his daughter Mary Ruth Martin in FL, where he died." Citation details: Memorial# 23784016. Added 06 Jan 2008 by Alton & Loudonia.
