"MRS. BONDURANT CALLED BY DEATH¶ Mrs. Martha J. Bondurant, pioneer resident of Durango and La Plata County passed away at 11:00 o'clock Tuesday night at her ranch home near Breen.¶ The deceased was born May 15, 1859 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. In 1877 she became the wife of J. A. Bondurant. The couple resided in Missouri until 1884, when they moved to Durango. Mr. Bondurant became engaged in farming and cattle raising and was one of the leading stockmen of the southwest for many years.¶ Mrs. Bondurant is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bertha D. Morrison of Dolores; Mrs. Blanche Phillips of Sparks, Nevada; and Mrs. Virginia Russell of Pueblo. She was preceded to the great beyond by her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Dora Allen.¶ The remains have been placed in charge Hood Mortuary. Funeral arrangements are pending word from relatives residing at distant points."

Bondurant, who passed away Dec. 11 at the family home at Breen, Colo., were held from the chapel of the Hood Mortuary, Saturday, Dec 13th and the internment was made in the family plot in Greenmount, beside her daughter, Dora Ethel Allen who preceeded her to the Great Beyond in 1929.¶ She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, James A. Bondurant, three daughters, Bertha D. Morrison of Delores, Colo., Blanche D. Phillips of Sparks, Nevada amd Virginia Russell of Pueblo , Colo., and fifteen grandchildren."
