Submitted by Violet Mings Austin.¶ From "History and Families: Wright County, Missouri," pub. 1993 by Turner Publishing Co., Paducah, KY (pp. 455-456): ¶ " MINGS--William Robert Mings, son of William Christopher and Nancy Ann Mary Neal Mings, was born Dec. 12, 1863 in Wright County. He lived on the farm homesteaded by his ancestors, possibly Joseph Mings, his great-grandfather, who was born in 1775 and fought in the Revolutionary War. The farm is now known as the Ellen Mullins or Seabolt place.¶ William died Dec. 19, 1937. He was married to Amanda Jane Roberts, who was born June 28, 1864 and died July 25, 1935. They are buried in the Blankenship Cemetery near Manes.¶ They were the parents of 13 children, who are all deceased: Infant son stillborn Dec. 17, 1881. Martha Jane (March 5, 1883) lived her earlier years in Wright County. She married Nathan Richards and they later moved to Arkansas. Her children are Mary, Martha, Charley and Faye. She is buried in Koshkonong, MO.¶ Joseph William "Will" (Dec. 28, 1884) lived in Missouri his earlier years and worked as a farmer. He married Nettie Williams and moved to Iowa in 1930.¶ Their children are George, Tilley, Velma, Dorthy, Alvie and Dwayne. Two infants who died at birth are buried near Plato.¶ James Marion was born Nov. 1, 1886. He was a bachelor and died October 1962.¶ Margaret Elizabeth (April 3, 1888) married John Richards who was a farmer.¶ Their children were Edith and Ethel. Her second marriage was to Charley Seabolt and their children were Bob and Veda Mae.¶ George Washington (Feb. 19, 1890), John Wallace (Oct. 28, 1891) and one girl (Feb. 28, 1893), all died as infants. Ada Estella (Oct., 20 1894-1958) married Harrison Stilley. They spent their lives in Missouri. She was a housewife and he a farmer. They were the parents of 11 children, Ester, Lelland, Alma, Baughn, Aubry, Orbrie, Marshall, Lyle, Melvin, Lucille and Retha. Ester, Lyle, Vaughn and Orbrie are deceased.¶ Robert McKinley (Nov. 15, 1896) married Macie Stilley. He was a farmer and did blacksmith work. He died Nov. 5, 1973. Macie was born Nov. 22, 1897 and died July 17, 1954. They were the parents of 13 children. Three died at birth. Other children were Earl, Wilma, Pauline, Alice, Vearl, Emmitt, Nolan, Jesse, Macie and Beulah. Earl died in 1977, Wilma died in 1989 and Pauline in 1991.¶ Francis Batterton "Bazz" (June 14, 1899) was also a farmer. He married Clustia Butts and they divorced. He moved to Iowa and married Julia Baucum.¶ The children were Charles, Clarence, James, Edward, Larry, Betty, Kennith and Jack.¶ Nancy Ann Catherine (1901) married Hobson Jones, moved to Iowa, and worked for Blue Star Foods. The children are Bill, Frances, Fern, Christy, Ruth, Mary, Annie and Donna. Bill, Christy and Mary are deceased.¶ Ora Ellen (March 21, 1903-Feb. 15, 1991) married George Mullins and lived on the family farm until her health failed. She moved to Arkansas and lived with her daughter, Marie Sewell. Her other daughter, Cella, moved to Washington. Both are deceased.¶ Research on Mings name say it is Scottish, Mingey. They came to Boston in the 1700s."
