Hugh's will dated 7 Feb 1800 named wife Margaret, sons Abraham, Samuel and Robert, daughters Martha, Margaret and Jinnet. His wife Margaret and son Samuel Executrix and Executor respectfully. Hugh's will probated 3 Dec 1802. Will Book C Page 218. Property settled by 19 May 1803. Note

Don Whiteside, in his book, "Whitesides in the U. S", June 25, 1971 has Hugh born around 1735 in Ireland. Doris Ross Johnston in Our Texas Family gives date of birth as 1735 in Armagh or Antrim, Ulster, Northern Ireland

“HUGH WHITESIDE. Of the early Whiteside settlers who moved into the Cathey’s Creek area of Lewis/Maury Counties in the early 1800s, most, if not all of them descended from High Whiteside (1738-1802) and Margaret Lusk (1743-1830 of Fishing Creek, Chester County, SC. Five of his sons and their families moved to Cathey’s Creek between 1800 and 1810, settling near Hampshire. Two sons, James and Hugh, remained in South Carolina. The five that came to Tennessee were: (1) William (ca. 1762-1849) died in Obion County, TN- sons: John, Hugh, Jonathan and William: (2) Abraham (Abram): (3) Thomas (1766-1825) married Margaret Lusk. Both are buried in Jones Presbyterian Church Cemetery (Maury County) – sons: Robertson (1800-1881), James and Hugh, (4) Samuel (ca. 1777-after 1850: died in Lewis County – sons: Milton, Osborn, Alexander and James D., : and (5) Robert (ca. 1782-after 1850) moved to Mississippi in 1840s, had a large family.
Hugh Whiteside and Margaret Lusk also had four daughters, some of whom came to Tennessee: Elizabeth, Mattie, Margaret and Janet. Submitted by Paul E. Cooper.”
