Charles Rolland McLean
Charles Rolland McLean was born September 14, 1934, in Lampasas, Texas, to Perry and Verdie McLean. He learned to fly a private airplane by the age of 16, a hobby he enjoyed for much of his life. On December 3rd, 1954, he married Jessie Norman, and they were blessed with two sons. Rolland was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1955, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class while stationed in Korea. The family moved to Amarillo in 1961, where he attended the Amarillo Bible Training Work in preparation for a lifetime of ministry. He also served as a very effective evangelist and missionary in the States and in several foreign countries, including a 3-year mission term with Jessie in Kitale, Kenya. Among his other interests, Rolland was an excellent carpenter, and he also received a master's degree in psychology and served for many years as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Jessie passed away in 1996, and January 10, 1998, Rolland married Shirley Ann Ferguson in Visalia, California. They served the Lord together at home and abroad for over 17 years. They moved to Canyon, Texas, in April of 2014 to be near family, and he passed away in Amarillo July 31 at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 17 days.
