Lampasas County Texas 1900 census has Alonzo's birth date as 1881. Burnet County History, Family Histories, Vol. 11, page 274 also says it was 10 December 1881. For years Granddad was not sure if his birth was in 1881 or 1882 but chose 1882 when applying for a birth certificate and his son, Blake, used 1882 for his headstone when he died - Barbara (McLean) Corner.

Alonzo lived in Lampasas, Lampasas County, Texas for 85 years.

Granddad delivered blocks of ice to homes in Lampasas, Texas, from the back of his truck until the Lampasas Sheriff made him stop driving in the 1950's because of his not having a driver's license. Alonzo then sold ice at the Lampasas Ice Plant. Granddad's greatest joy was to chip a hugh chunk of ice from a block of ice to give to all the kids as he made his deliveries.

double tombstone inscription: MCLEAN; Lossie P.; 1889 - 1983; [with husband] Alonzo D. 1882 - 1973; In God We Trust; with separate small stones under each name on the ground: "Mother"; "Father". Additional stones at foot of graves: Lossie Myrtle Perry; Feb. 22, 1889; Dec. 22, 1983 and Alonzo David McLean; Dec. 10, 1882; Feb. 2, 1973. These graves, along with other family members graves are all within a concrete curbing engraved with large "A. D. McLean" lettering.
