Newman brothers and cousins proceeded across the state to Perry County and other locations, some staying and others moving west. Henry Jr. found his way to Hardin County in western Tennessee along with Garrett Newman, a brother. Henry Jr. lived there many years and was in the 1870 census at the reported age of 78, born in Virginia, with second wife Rebecca and four children. He died before 1880. Garrett got a land grant in Henderson County, Tennessee, was there in 1840 census, across the line in Hardin County 1850, and died at the age of 64 in 1860, leaving his wife and a large family. His name derived from the son Conrad and Anna names Gerhardt which quickly became Americanized to Garrett, and thus a significant clue linking these families in faraway Tennessee.

Family census	in household as Newman, Henry, 1 male 0-5, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 30-40; 1 female 20-30.
Immigration	followed the migration of Conrad’s and Nimrod’s family members from Virginia to Tennessee. Newman brothers and cousins proceeded across the state to Perry County and other locations, some staying and others moving west. Henry Jr. found his way to Hardin County in western Tennessee along with Garrett Newman, a brother. Henry Jr. lived there many years and was in the 1870 census at the reported age of 78, born in Virginia, with second wife Rebecca and four children. He died before 1880. Garrett got a land grant in Henderson County, Tennessee, was there in 1840 census, across the line in Hardin County 1850, and died at the age of 64 in 1860, leaving his wife and a large family. His name derived from the son Conrad and Anna names Gerhardt which quickly became Americanized to Garrett, and thus a significant clue linking these families in faraway Tennessee.
