gave affidavit in Revolutionary Pension file W.4644, "Mrs. Lucy (X) Wilkes, maiden name Burnett of said county, aged 79 years on 24 August next, declares she is the wife of ARCHIBALD WILKS and only surviving child of Joseph Burnett of Bedford Ciounty who enlisted for 18 months in the first of the war and was at the battle of Brandywine. Her father married Mabel Melton in 1774 or 1775 at New London (now Campbell County) by a minister of the Church of England. Her father died about 60 years ago when she was about 7; mother died 4 years ago in Grayson County where she moved about 1810."
