"This Indenture made and entered into this 27 day of May 1822 between Joshua R. C. Brown of the one part and James Woodford and Lucy his wife of the other part, Witnesseth that Whereas by Virtue of a decree of the County Court of Bedford pronounced at March term in 1821 in a Suit in Chancery [Court] in which James Woodford and Lucy his wife are Plaintiffs and Joshue Pratt and others are Defendants it is Decreed and ordered by the Said Court among other things that the above named Joshua R. C. Brown do convey a title to the plaintiffs in fee simple to the tract of land conveyed in the Said decree mentioned for and on behalf of Joshua Pratt, JESSEE WILK and JUDITH his wife, Drury Foster & Mary his wife and Hugh, Joshua and Polly Pratt infant heirs of Jesse Pratt decd. all of Whom appear to the Satisfaction of the Court to be now residents of this Commonwealth as far as their respective interest extends To Wit four-eighths of the said tract of land all of which may more fully appear reference being had to a Copy of the decree afsd. hereunto annexed to this Deed now by Virtue of the decree afsd. and by Virtue of the act of assembly in that case made and provided, I Joshua C. Brown commissioner as afsd . . . 770 acres of land lying and being in the County of Bedford and the Waters of Goose Creek and bounded by the lands of John Claytor, John Scott, Milbourne Williamson & others . . .
