On October 19, 1765, Ephraim and Elizabeth settled on 640 acres of land on Fishing Creek in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, deeded over to them by William and Mary Moore. (10) One of the witnesses on this deed was William Dunlap, the uncle who raised Ephraim and Charles after their parents died. From time to time they moved to new lands along the western bank of the Catawba River, North Carolina, in the general direction of the Cumberland Gap, gateway to the west.

(10) Mecklenburg register of deeds book I, pages 343 and 344 gives year as 1765. Two deeds of 320 acres each, and the two witnesses who signed the deeds.

"Thank you for your responce.
The Snow Creek farm in Maury County Tenn is where Epraim McLean Jr. is buried with Polly Boyd. Their son John is buried at McClain Cemetery in Lewis Co. Hohenwald Tenn.
John's name was misspelled in the 1842 census. John's children are also buried at the McClain Cemetery.
Martin, I have his Civil War picture that was handed down in our family. In a large Oval frame. Martin had five sons the one named Matthew had five sons the one name John Turley was my grandfather. His son Robert Matthew was my father.
I notice you had them in Fishing Creek North Carolina,
I have Robert Melville Cooper's from Fishing Crrek South Carolina, who came to Tenn around 1808 and intermarried with Kennedy's and McClains."

Quality of data: unknown
Note: It appears that Ephraim McLean, Jr. and Polly Boyd McLean are the only ones buried on the Snow Creek farm.
